Competition Policy
1) Representation
All Competitions (Except National School Games)
All competitive fencers who are members of the club must be regular paying fencers of SportivA Fencing. A "regular paying fencer" is defined as a fencer who has maintained continuous paid membership for the current month (month of representation) and the one (1) preceding month. This is with exception of the following but not an exhausting list:
New members / fencers
Fencers taking major / national exams
Fencers with long term injury/MC
Fencers who are overseas
Non-regular paying fencers who wish to compete under the club will be required to pay an extra supplementary fee of $175 to the club. This fee covers one (1) month of club membership. This is to ensure fairness for all fencers representing the club. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Any appeal has to be made to the club prior to the event by writing.
National School Games
For independent fencers (without school fencing CCA) taking part in National School Games (NSG). In order to register SportivA Fencing as their club of training and SportivA coaches as their coaches during NSG, club fencers must have maintained continuous paid membership for the current month (month of competition) and the three (3) preceding months.
(Example: Jan (Month 1), Feb (Month 2), March (Month 3), April (Competition Month))
Extra supplementary fee is required for the missing months. This is to encourage sufficient and regular training for the competition prior to the competition registration by MOE school.
2) Registration
For all competitions, fencers are required to notify the club of their participation before registration. If fencers are registering under their school/institution and externally, club should be notified.
For local competitions, fencers are required to register individually using the competition registration link, unless the club specifies otherwise. Once registration is completed, fencers are required to notify the club. Fencers are responsible for adhering to the registration deadline set by the competition organiser.
Fencers intending to participate in any overseas competitions are required to inform the club of their interest. The club will complete and submit the registration for all fencers unless specifically instructed otherwise.
Fencers who are responsible for their own competition registration must communicate their registration and confirmation status to SportivA via email.
3) Referee & Administration Fees
Based on the number of fencers taking part in each event, if any referee penalty fee is incurred, it will be divided equally among all the participating fencers for that event. The club will notify affected fencers of their individual share of their penalty and provide instructions for payment. For non-members, fencers will have to pay 1.5 times the penalty fee imposed by organiser.
There will also be an additional administrative fee for fencers as per the following:
Members: $2
Non-Members: $10
Payment must be done before competition.
4) Equipment
Fencers are responsible for having their own equipment for competitions and ensuring that their equipment meets the requirements for the competition. If any fencer needs to loan (with fees) / borrow (free of charge) equipment from the club, it will be subjected to availability and terms and conditions.
5) Communication with Club
Fencers competing under the SportivA Fencing banner are required to provide regular updates to the club and coaches regarding their performance throughout the competition, including their final results. Consistent communication with coaches, whether in person or remotely, is expected. Fencers are also requested to share photos documenting their competition experience with the club.
Fencers achieving a podium finish (medal or top 8 placing) must provide photos and notify the club, including those registered under their school/institution. This ensures the club can track the progress of all its fencers.
6) Code of Conduct
As representatives of the club, all fencers are expected to adhere to the club's code of conduct.
Fencers are to uphold the good name of the SportivA Fencing and the Republic of Singapore.
Observe exemplary behavior and show consideration for others at all times.
Be courteous and respectful to all.
At no time should any fencer argue with referees, umpires, judges, opponents or officials and coaches.
Fencers must show exemplary sportsmanship.
Observe strictly and faithfully FIE rules of competition.
